A call for Rowan Williams to stick to his day job

Rowan Williams' written attack upon UK government policies has called forth a forceful response from the leading English Catholic prelate, Archbishop Vincent Nichols.  The Daily Mail is calling this dispute a "war."

Truly, "a most amazing quantity of utter drivel issues forth from the midst of that ghastly beard."  Alas, the drivel carries unfortunate consequences for English Catholics.  The estimable Dr. Oddie's thoughts here.

UPDATE:  Peter Hitchens' thoughts here.
