Speaking of smoke

The Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel will surely help in dispersing it.  In 1886, Pope Leo XIII directed that the prayer to St. Michael be recited after Mass.   The practice ended in 1964.   In 1994, although he did not restore the practice of reciting the prayer of St. Michael after Mass, Pope John Paul II recommended all Catholics recite this prayer.   Recently, Bishop Thomas John Paprocki of Springfield, IL authorized that the Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel be said at every Mass celebrated in the Diocese of Springfield.

Here is the text:

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..
