Hail, Apostolic Pillars of the Church

Today is the feast of St. Philip and St. James (St. Philip is on top, St. James below.) St. Philip, like St. Peter and St. Andrew, was from Bethsaida. Our Lord called Philip directly, addressing St. Philip with the simple command, "Follow me."  St. Philip did so, and later brought Nathaniel into the company of apostles.  Not much is known of St. James.  This St. James is often called "The Less" to distinguish him from the James who was cousin to Jesus, bishop of Jerusalem, and author of the Letter of St. James.

Courtesy of Universalis here is the reading  (Ephesians 2:19-22) from today's office of Lauds:

You are no longer aliens or foreign visitors: you are citizens like all the saints, and part of God’s household. You are part of a building that has the apostles and prophets for its foundations, and Christ Jesus himself for its main cornerstone. As every structure is aligned on him, all grow into one holy temple in the Lord; and you too, in him, are being built into a house where God lives, in the Spirit.
