The US Bishops are hypocrites

We'll go into the dubious circumstances of this organization's creation at another time

That, alas, is the very word, since the bishops preach one course to others while following a different course themselves.  I fear their hypocrisy dooms the bishops' opposition to Obamacare, since it prevents them from grasping that it would still be unconstitutional for the government to compel the purchase of health insurance, even if certain exemptions were to be granted the bishops themselves.  The Fifth Column has more here.

We're stealing from generations unborn

Which is, of course, wrong.  John Maynard Keynes (who had no children, and so didn't care about that aspect of the issue) used to explain away national debt by claiming that we owed the money to ourselves.  We've used Keynes' comfortable lie to justify borrowing so much from ourselves that it will require several lifetimes to pay ourselves back.  In other words, we are stealing from those who will come after us.  Here is the issue in unmistakeable terms (h/t Pertinacious Papist):
