Guess I touched a nerve

St. Ignatius Loyola

Over at America they're up to their usual nonsense, posting a press release from a Soros funded group as though it were true, much less news.   No comments had been posted, so I decided to be the first.  I wrote "Would that America transmitted Catholic teaching with as little demurral as they do the press releases of the Soros-funded Center for American Progress."  The comment was removed within the hour.

UPDATE:  Justin Martyr suggests we (few, we happy few) all have a go at posting the removed comment verbatim.  I call this inspired, and I expect America's response will be instructive to observe.

UPDATE 2: We have America's response (see comments), and, as predicted, it is instructive.
Query: is it pointless snark to characterize a comment as "pointless snark?"

UPDATE 3: Please stop trying to post the comment at America.  A truce has been declared (see comments).

Don't forget your Birkenstocks

By their foot you shall know them

America, the Jesuit magazine, has news of "an intriguing Jesuit initiative" called "Magis."  Magis is sort of the Jesuit version of World Youth Day, only without the pope.  Also without much Catholicism.  Instead, "participants at Magis got involved in a variety of activities related with social engagements (e.g., migrants, childhood, minorities, persons with disabilities), culture and arts (music, photography, restoration), spirituality (pilgrimages), and also ecology."

Do the Jesuits aim to provide the last stop on the way out of the Faith, or the first stop on the way in?

"Learning to Listen: Voices of Sexual Diversity and the Catholic Church."

That's the title of a conference held at Fordham, ("the Jesuit University in New York") last Friday.  The Jesuit magazine America has been excited about the conference since last spring.

Wondering who was meant to listen, and to what, and for what purpose, I came across this from the sponsor's website:

"For too long, the conversation on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in the Roman Catholic Church has been only a monologue — the sole voice being heard is that of the institutional Catholic Church.  We must engage in more than a monologue by having a 21st century conversation on sexual diversity, with new and different voices heard from."

Question answered.

What is with the Jesuits and Rock Stars?

The Jesuits used to be almost as excited about Jesus as they now are about Bruce

We've posted before about the Jesuit magazine America's obsession with Lady Gaga.  America admires Lady Gaga for many reasons, but most of all because they believe she is our best hope for world peace.  Tupac Shakur and Natalie Merchant have received similarly awestruck attention.  Now it is Bruce Springsteen's turn.  You'll need a heart of stone not to gag.

Cardinal O'Connell was indirectly to blame for clerical pedophilia mess anyway

Weep not; it was merely the tomb of a bishop
who, by being a good administrator,
mysteriously and unintentionally abetted
lying by other bishops
long after he himself was dead

Which means demolishing the chapel in which the Cardinal was buried was actually a fine thing.

That's according to the Jesuits' "America" magazine.   Boston College, a Jesuit institution, did the demolishing.

"America" doesn't claim that Cardinal O'Connell  knew of, deliberately overlooked, engaged in, or in any way approved of clerical pedophilia, for the very good reason that there is no evidence for any of that.  Instead, "America" approvingly echoes the argument that it was the Cardinal's "tremendous success as an administrator" which led, in an unexplained way, "to the episcopal mendacity which has so eroded the archdiocese."  Sounds like, in "America" 's view, it wasn't so much the clerical pedophilia itself as the lying about it by bishops that caused all the problems.  And Cardinal O'Connell was such a good administrator he made it easy for bishops to lie about clerical pedophilia many decades after he was dead.  No, that doesn't make sense to me, either, but that's "America"'s argument.

If that's the best justification they could come up with for demolishing a chapel, the Jesuits are in worse moral condition than even I thought.

And, in case you were wondering for what urgent purpose Boston College would demolish a chapel; the demolition was done to make room for a parking lot.  Imagine the lengths they'd go to build a dormitory.

Love us! Love us!  We're liberals!

The Jesuits' magazine, "America," can't resist these types of stories.  Here's the latest, and one from last week.

I guess you're always the last to realize you've been reduced to self-parody.

Want to show your concern for the poor?

Call your congressman.  According to the Jesuit magazine "America," that's all it takes.  No wonder so many people are liberals; it's so easy!  And it makes you feel so good!  And you don't even have to spend your own money!

Your tax dollars at work

                                                 Our woman in Rome

The US State Dept worked overtime to ensure that Lady Gaga participated in the Gay Pride festivities in Rome last week.  I wonder why this was of paramount national importance?  While we wait for the Lady Gaga experts at America magazine to explain, here is the story, courtesy of Moonbattery.

America magazine pins its hopes for world peace on Lady Gaga

If she can't end war, who can?

Having discarded devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in order to concentrate on promoting social justice, the Jesuit editors of America magazine note with dissatisfaction that there continue to be wars in the world.  The editors find this incomprehensible, since they distinctly recall Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Art Garfunkel, and even Paul McCartney singing songs about ending war.  In near despair, America magazine now turns to (who else): Lady Gaga.

I kid you not.
